Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer at Willow Leaf Therapy?
I offer individual counselling sessions focusing on anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma recovery. My client-centred approach utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care to help individuals achieve emotional well-being.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress. It’s highly effective for issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. During sessions, I guide clients in developing practical tools and coping strategies to improve their mental health.

What does “trauma-informed care” mean?
Trauma-informed care acknowledges the widespread impact of trauma and seeks to create a safe, supportive environment for healing. I focus on understanding how trauma affects each person individually and tailor my approach to ensure that clients feel empowered, respected, and not re-traumatized.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial for anyone looking to address emotional challenges, improve mental health, or gain insight into themselves. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or past trauma, therapy offers a supportive space to explore and resolve these issues.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies based on your specific needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term counselling (8-12 sessions), while others may engage in longer-term therapy. We will regularly assess your progress and adjust as necessary.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I currently offer virtual counselling sessions only. These are conducted via secure video conferencing platforms, allowing you to receive care from the comfort of your home while ensuring confidentiality and accessibility.

What can I expect during my first session?
The first session allows us to get to know each other. I will ask about your history, current challenges, and goals for therapy. It’s a time to share what you’re comfortable with, and we’ll work together to create a plan that best supports your needs.

Are sessions confidential?
Yes, everything discussed in our sessions is confidential. The only exceptions are situations where there is a legal obligation to report, such as harm to yourself or others or a court order. Your privacy and trust are of the utmost importance to Willow Leaf Therapy.

How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by contacting me through my website, Willow Leaf Therapy, or by phone. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss how I can support you and answer any initial questions.

What are your fees, and do you offer sliding scale rates?
My fees vary depending on the type and length of the session. I do offer sliding scale rates for those who may need financial flexibility. Feel free to reach out to discuss payment options.

Do you work with specific populations?
While I work with a wide range of clients, I have extensive experience supporting Indigenous communities, as well as individuals affected by trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am dedicated to creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive space for all.
